מחקר
מטרת המעבדה היא לפתח התקנים ננומריים מתכתיים ומגנטיים בשביל בטריות,תאי דלק,חיישנים ואפליקציות ביו-רפואיות.המעבדה פועלת לשילוב הרכיבים הננומטריות הנ"ל על סיליקון-אחד מהחומרים הידועים אך עדיין מבטיחים להמרת אנרגיה (תאים סולרים),ואכסון אנרגיה(בטריות ליתיום).המעבדה של ד"ר דוד זיתון מפתחת דרך אלטרנטיבית לייצור שכבות דקות בעזרת שימוש בשיטות ציפוי כימיות רטובות.שתי הדרכים ראשיות נבדקות;האחת -סינתיזה של ננו-ספרות וננו-חוטים ומרחיתם על מצע בטכניקות ציפוי רטובות,והשנייה-ציפוי של המגיבים המולקולריים למצע, וביצוע תגובה על פני המשטח.המעבדה מסנתיזת קומפלקסים אורגנו-מתכתיים ריאקטיביים וחוקרת את התרמוליזה, פרוליזה וחיזור שלהם. ד"ר זיתון מביא הישג מרכזי בעזרת שימוש במגיבים אורגנו-מתכתיים אשר תוכננו כך שיוכלו להתפרק לתת ציפויי מתכתי גם בטמפרטורת החדר.הגישה הזאת מאפשרת סינתיזה ישירות על המצע המבוקש (מתכתי,פלסטי וכו') בעזרת שיטות ציפויי סטנדרטיים ו/או בעזרת המילה האחרונה בציוד המחקרי דוגמת ה- Atomic Layer Deposition.
