Development of Novel Active Compounds in Various Fields of Drug Development and Crop Protection
 

The presentation will deal with studies on the development of active agents in three unrelated fields.

a) Compounds active as herbicides were developed based on inhibition of the biosynthetic course of biotin in plants.

b) Novel multifunctional drugs derived from indoline have been found to display highly potent activity as antioxidants and anti-inflammatory agents, based on inhibition of various cytokines.

c) Prodrugs of 5-aminolevullinic acid (5-ALA), the precursor of heme biosynthesis, are being evaluated as potential agents for the treatment sickle cell anemia.
