Laboratory for the synthesis of innovative nanostructures 

The purpose of the laboratory is to synthesize new nanomaterials. This is an exciting and growing field that can have a strong impact in many applications such as: energy, electronics, composites, etc. We mainly focus on the synthesis of one-dimensional (1D) and two-dimensional (2D) materials such as carbon nanotubes (CNT), carbon nanofibers (CNF), various types of graphene, and transition metal chalcogenides. We have state-of-the-art chemical vapor deposition systems.

We focus mainly on new materials with applications in electrocatalysis and photocatalysis.

Through a vast network of collaborations in Israel, Europe (mainly Italy), and USA, we have applied our materials in batteries, sensors, composites, medical devices, etc. We even encourage our students, if they want, to do an internship abroad with one of our partners as part of Erasmus+ programs we have with many institutions in Italy (e.g., U. of Brescia, Ca’ Foscari (Venice), U. Bergamo, Politecnico di Milano, etc.)

We just won a nice grant to develop innovative nanostructured electrodes for electrocatalysis and we are looking for motivated Masters and PhD candidates to advance this exciting research and to publish in high impact factor journals.
