Summer Student OPENING
For research on sustainable materials for solar cells and renewable energy, in the Cahen/Zaban labs in the BINA Nanocentre. Preferred background: chemistry, physics, or engineering; minimal time: 10 weeks (net).
The labs are located in the Nano building.
Prior skills required: some lab experience; English at level of conversation. Guidance (in English) will be provided in first weeks.

Shani Zev (Levi) was awarded the scholarship in the name of Yitzchak Navon
The Department of Chemistry congratulates Shani Zev, a Ph.d. student in Prof. Dan Major's research laboratory, upon being awarded the scholarship in the name of Yitzchak Navon. The scholarship funds excelling female students in higher studies programs.

Prof. Doron Aurbach from the Department of Chemistry and the Institute of Nanotechnology was awarded a gold medal from the ICS for his contribution to science
Prof. Doron Aurbach from the Department of Chemistry and the Institute of Nanotechnology was awarded a gold medal for his contribution and achievements in science from the Israel Chemical Society (ICS).
Prof. Aurbach won for the breakthrough he made in his research in the fields of non-aqueous electrochemistry, for the development of new analytical tools, the development of new rechargeable batteries and for his research into electrochemical processes for water treatment.
Prof. Doron Aurbach has published more than 680 articles and according to Google Scholar has accumulated over 70,000 citations. He has mentored more than 60 doctoral students and in 2018 received the Prime Minister's Award for Innovation in the Field of Samson Transportation.
The medal ceremony will be held in February 2021.

Prof. Malachi Noked from the Department of Chemistry among the recipients of the Krill Prize for 2019
The Wolf Foundation published this week the list of the ten winners of the prestigious Krill Prize for 2019.
The prize, for a total of $ 10,000 per researcher, is awarded annually in the fields of exact sciences, life sciences, medicine, agriculture and engineering. The winners were selected by the Foundation's Scholarship Committee from a list of dozens of outstanding candidates submitted by the universities.
Among the outstanding researchers are also Dr. Baruch Barzel from the Department of Mathematics and Prof. Malachi Noked from the Department of Chemistry at Bar-Ilan University.

Prof. Doron Aurbach from the Department of Chemistry and the Institute of Nanotechnology won the Prime Minister's Award worth $ 1 million for innovation in the field of oil substitutes for transportation
Prof. Doron Aurbach from the Department of Chemistry and the Institute of Nanotechnology won the Prime Minister's Award named after Samson for innovation in the field of oil substitutes for transportation. This is the first time the award has been presented to an Israeli researcher.

Honorary Doctorate from the University of Buenos Aires to Prof. Doron Aurbach
The University of Buenos Aires has awarded an honorary doctorate to Prof. Doron Aurbach of the Department of Chemistry and the Institute of Nanotechnology at Bar-Ilan University.
The award is given to him for promoting the field of electrochemistry, as seen in the letter of rationale: "Development of electrochemical power sources as and excellent platform for promoting basic materials and surface science".

Dr. Adi Salomon for the Department of Chemistry among the recipients of the Krill prize for 2018
Dr. Adi Salomon from the Department of Chemistry won the Krill Award for Excellence in Scientific Research from the Wolf Foundation, for 2018. The Rector of the University, Prof. Miriam Faust, congratulated Dr. Salomon and wished her success in continuing her excellence in her research work.
